Pushpa is the topic of a riveting documentary, Waiting for Mamu which depicts the work she does going into the prisons of Nepal and fosters the children of women who are incarcerated to give those children ‘normal’ lives while their mothers cannot. In Nepal, children are incarcerated with their mothers and are merely left to sit on the floor in the cell with no attention to their education or their physical development and no emotional nurturing or opportunity for socialization. Pushpa has rescued more than 140 children since 2005 and has many more she is welcoming all the time.
